Our Team

Emil Photo RoundedEmil was born and raised in the Philippines, but has spent half his life living in Southern California.  He led a career in the corporate world before deciding to travel long-term IMG_5107and pursue his passion for the water.  As an SSI Level 3 Freediving Instructor, AIDA Instructor and WSF Master Freediving Instructor, he teaches basic to master level courses.  His passion for diving started in 1999 and has been playing in the water since then. A trained lifeguard and divemaster, he is also a qualified React Right Emergency First Aid, CPR, AED, Oxygen Provider instructor.  Although he loves tank diving just as much, he hasn’t been tank diving much since he started freediving.  He is taken by the simplicity of freediving.  He discovered freediving while traveling in Southeast Asia.  Wanting to live and share his passion, he eventually became a freediving instructor and has been teaching since.  His deep appreciation for yoga and meditation steered him to complete a traditional yoga teacher course in India which goes hand in hand with teaching freediving.  Before Dumagat Freedive, he had worked as a freediving instructor in some of the most established freediving schools.

Sylvain BesSylvain started freediving early in life in the Mediterranean sea. He has been teaching since 2009 as an AIDA and SSI instructor. In 2015, he was awarded the DEJEPS French state diploma and then proceeded to open Omniblue Freedive in Saint-Cyr-sur-Mer, France. An explorer, underwater photographer, trainer and a competitor, Sylvain comes to Romblon every year to develop freediving on the beautiful island of Romblon with Dumagat Freedive. Together, they organize freediving training camps in late February and in early April. Between these two training camps, they spend the month of March with certified freedivers, experts and competitors who wish to train in a quiet setting and those who wish to experience the Philippines away from the usual island destinations. You may contact him via Omniblue Freedive’s website or by emailing sylvain.bes@gmail.com.
